Establishing a New Centennial: Designs that Advance Equality Exhibition
FAE's primary focus was on the brand language of the event which was then applied to a handful of promotional materials and stationary graphics that Night Kitchen Interactive utilized in the AR component. Under the direction of Christine Tan, Spatial Director, Fork Spoon, we created intentionally austere visuals that allowed key content to speak for itself. The limited facets of the event's brand language were chosen with specificity in mind. For example, the color palette is derived from the flag of the National Woman’s Suffrage Congressional Union Flag. American "suffragettes" purportedly adorned themselves in sashes and carried flags in the shades of gold, white, and violet. In the spirit of advancement, and with the distinct objective to highlight how we must learn from history, we challenge you to further explore each of the projects and contributors.
This exhibition launched on October 12, 2020 thanks to an NEA Grant. Due to the challenges at play [including the ongoing global pandemic], all contributors had to learn to work in new ways, envisioning a project that remained accessible; including a unique AR component that is still available to see on DesignPhiladelphia’s Instagram.
